Asset Management PublicationAMSA Releases Asset Management Publication — Members Receive Advance Copy!
AMSA is delighted to provide members with an advance copy of the much-anticipated asset management publication, Managing Public Infrastructure Assets to Minimize Cost and Maximize Performance. The new publication will be officially released, and prominently featured, during AMSA's 2002 Winter Conference, Managing and Protecting Wastewater Infrastructure Assets, February 5 - 8, 2002 in Orlando, Florida.

The Managing Public Infrastructure Assets publication provides an in-depth primer on asset management principles, navigates impending financial reporting regulations and assists public water and wastewater utilities in developing local asset management programs. Asset management is currently a "hot" issue for many wastewater utilities. Major changes to financial accounting and reporting standards by the Governmental Accounting Standards Board (better known as GASB 34) requiring local governments to report depreciation of their assets or implement an asset management system beginning with the 2002 fiscal year makes Managing Public Infrastructure Assets the resource on this important issue.

Additional copies of Managing Public Infrastructure Assets to Minimize Cost and Maximize Performance can be ordered from AMSA's online bookstore at http://www.amsa-cleanwater.org/pubs/.

Regional Asset Management Workshops Offered for Public Utilities
In addition, AMSA is pleased to offer four regional asset management workshops that focus on practical asset management principles and complement the concepts explored in the Managing Public Infrastructure Assets publication. The publication and the workshops are arriving at just the right time, as many water and wastewater utilities face the triple challenge of rising costs, additional security expenses and tightening budgets. Given the critical need for guidance the Managing Public Infrastructure Assets regional workshops will provide, early registration is strongly encouraged as space is limited to only 100 participants per workshop. Plan now to attend the Managing Public Infrastructure Assets Workshop near you!
