Sewer District Earns Performance Award
The Green Bay Metropolitan Sewerage District was awarded the Peak Performance Gold Award from the Association of Metropolitan Sewerage Agencies for outstanding performance in 2003.
The association has presented the awards since 1986 to wastewater facilities that meet all federal standards in a calendar year.
The standards limit the concentrations of pollutants such as phosphorus, ammonia and suspended solids in wastewater discharged to the environment.
The Green Bay Metropolitan Sewerage District has now received six gold and four silver awards from the association in the past 10 years.
The sewerage district is a single-purpose government utility that treats wastewater and promotes pollution prevention.
