Wastewater Treatment Plants Win Awards
CLEARWATER - Each of three advanced wastewater treatment facilities in
Clearwater received a silver award from the Association of Metropolitan Sewerage
Agencies under its Peak Performance Awards program. The award is given to
facilities nationally for achieving certain regulatory compliance standards.
The Peak Performance Awards Program recognizes member agency facilities for
excellence in wastewater treatment as measured by their compliance with their
National Pollutant Discharge Elimination System permit requirements. Silver
certificates are awarded for five or fewer permit violations in a calendar year.
This is considered an accomplishment, given the large number of possible
violations.
