American Heritage Rivers Initiative

During this year's February 5th State of the Union address, President Clinton announced an initiative to designate 10 American Heritage Rivers to help communities alongside them revitalize their waterfronts, and clean up pollution.

Attached for your information is the Administration's current efforts to develop a program to deliver on the President's promise. AMSA encourages you to participate in upcoming Regional stakeholder meetings being held over the next few weeks. Interested stakeholders will have an opportunity to provide feedback on the the overall program, and specific components such as criteria used for desgination and the development of a toolbox of federal resources that meet community needs and interests.
