EPA's Office of Water is sponsoring a national water quality standards conference, August 24-27, 1997 in Philadelphia, PA. The purpose of the meeting is to provide an exchange of scientific, technical, and policy information on water quality criteria and standards, and implementation, including water quality-based permitting. EPA's Water Quality Criteria and Standards Plan (Regulatory Alert RA 98-12) will be discussed extensively. A separate public meeting on the Advanced Notice of Proposed Rulemaking (ANPRM) on the Water Quality Standards Regulation (Regulatory Alert RA 98-15) will be held August 27 and 28 immediately following the national water quality standards conference. Experts will lead discussions of core issues outlined in the ANPRM and members of the public will be given an opportunity to join in the discussions and ask questions. No pre-application is required.
