Make Your Voice Heard, Make an Appointment to Meet your Member of Congress
Meeting with your Members of Congress or congressional staff is a very effective way to convey your message about specific issues and legislation. To make an appointment with your delegate in D.C.: contact the Appointment Secretary or Scheduler for your Members; explain the purpose of your visit and who you represent. AMSA will provide Legislative Briefing packets at the Forum for you to leave with your congressional Members and staff. It is helpful to share with the member information and examples that demonstrate clearly the impact or benefits associated with an issue or piece of legislation to his/her hometown district or State. Where appropriate, ask how you can help to achieve a positive outcome on a specific issue and ask your member for a commitment on specific legislative initiatives. The afternoon of Tuesday, May 20 has been set aside for AMSA members to visit congressional delegations.AMSA Members Urged to Invite Legislators to Capitol Hill Reception
