This interactive CD-ROM was developed by the Water Environment Federation and AMSA is delighted to have been a Founding Funder of this exciting initiative. The Aqua Venturer takes you on a journey through time, and allows you to scroll through human history. Learn the story of water and the importance of water conservation, methods of disposal and treatment, and water saving strategies. You can explore more than 10,000 years of history with the click of a mouse!
Whether you’re trying to beat the clock in the Challenge round or looking for fascinating facts about water, the Aqua Venturer CD offers an excellent public outreach opportunity for your agency. The CD includes interactive modes called Timeline and Challenge. The Timeline feature allows the viewer to scroll though history and learn more about the water headline selected from a drawing, photo or historical milestone. For all you history enthusiasts, the Challenge section is designed for you. This competitive quiz is between you and the clock and is created for the viewer to build awareness about the history of water.
The Aqua Venturer CD explores the importance of water to life on earth and how water and wastewater treatment has preserved this precious resource throughout history. We encourage you to incorporate this tool with your outreach activities. Thomas "Buddy" Morgan, AMSA Board Member and General Manager of Montgomery Water Works & Sanitary Sewer Board in Alabama, has made excellent use of the Aqua Venturer program. Buddy distributed the CD to his local school systems, colleges and universities, local environmental groups and 4-H clubs throughout his region. As a result, Buddy and his staff have been invited into classrooms on numerous occasions to demonstrate this educational tool.
