Leadership Center Training Benefitting the Nations Water
& Wastewater Utilities
Leadership is a topic of great interest for public water and wastewater
managers. To ensure a utilitys future success it is essential to prepare and develop
leaders and management executives to meet current and future demands. To meet this need,
AMSA, the Association of Metropolitan Water Agencies, the American Water Works Association
and the Water Environment Federation have joined together in the creation of the Water
& Wastewater Leadership Center, housed at the University of North Carolina -
Chapel Hills Kenan-Flager Executive Education facilities.
The Leadership Centers intensive, professional 12-day residential training program, ongoing Internet coaching and peer networking will explore a wide-variety of leadership and management topics needed for leaders, and up-and-coming leaders, of the water and wastewater treatment community. The curriculum has been designed for public water and wastewater utility CEOs, General Managers, Senior Managers and upper-level management.
Training Facilities and Curriculum Receive Rave Reviews
The Center held its first session in March, and participants
unanimously applauded the Leadership Centers timely curriculum, excellent
faculty and state-of-the-art facilities. The excellent value, in time and money, was
repeatedly highlighted in comments from Center participants. Mary Lappin, Kansas
Citys (Mo.) Assistant Director of Plant and Facilities, said it best
"The Leadership Center training was targeted and intense, so I received a lot
of value for little time." With the unequivocal success of the first session, we have
now set our sights on the next session of the Water & Wastewater Leadership Center
to be held September 16 - 28.
