For Proxy Votes

At an Association Business Meeting on February 3, 2005 AMSA’s membership will vote on proposed amendments to the Association’s Bylaws. These amendments are presented for your review via this Member Update under Attachment A. The vote will take place in the context of AMSA’s 2005 Winter Conference, Sustainable Systems, in San Antonio, Texas. All public Member Agencies are invited and encouraged to cast their vote – either in person or via the attached proxy.

The proposed amendments align the Bylaws with the Association’s new Strategic Plan and update matters of governance. Notably, the amendments change the organization’s name from AMSA to the National Association of Clean Water Agencies (NACWA).

The Association’s Board of Directors has reviewed the proposed amendments to the Association’s Bylaws and with this Member Update, recommends their approval by the membership.

Member Votes – in Person or By Proxy – Essential
All public Member Agencies are urged to vote on these Bylaws amendments either in person (at the 2005 Winter Conference in San Antonio, Texas) or by proxy (provided under Attachment B). Any Member Agency who will not be in attendance at the 2005 Winter Conference is requested to complete the proxy form found under Attachment B of this Update, and return it to the National Office prior to 12:00 noon EST on Friday, January 28, 2005. In accordance with the provisions of Section 8, Article IX of the AMSA Bylaws, you may either designate an individual in attendance at the Winter Conference to act as your proxy or designate the AMSA Board to act on your behalf.

Should you have any questions or concerns, please do not hesitate to contact AMSA Deputy Executive Director, Paula Dannenfeldt, at 202/833-4654 or via e-mail at pdannenfeldt@amsa-cleanwater.org. Thank you, in advance, for your prompt and thoughtful attention to this matter.
