NEWS IN BRIEF
WATER/WASTEWATER SYSTEM SECURITY RISKS ASSESSED
The Association of Metropolitan Sewerage Agencies Jan. 15 announced the availability of two new software programs for vulnerability assessments at both water and wastewater treatment plants. One Vulnerability Self Assessment Tool (VSAT) program is for joint water/wastewater systems, while the other is for small- to medium-sized water utilities, says Washington, D.C.-based AMSA. The tools, available at no charge to utilities, can evaluate and prioritize vulnerabilities to a system's physical plant, information technology, knowledge base, employees and customers, says AMSA.
