County public works wins anti-pollution honor
The Association of Metropolitan Sewerage Agencies will present
the Anne Arundel County Department of Public Works with an award for
anti-pollution efforts at its Broadwater Water Reclamation Facility
at a ceremony tomorrow in Washington.
Michael Bonk, the county's director of utility operations, will
accept the award for the county. Anne Arundel's Broadwater plant is
one of 12 facilities nationwide to receive the sewerage agencies'
Platinum Award, given to counties that have complied with national
standards for pollutant discharge for five years in a row.
