Bruce Tobey, Former NLC EENR Chair and Board of Directors member, was
awarded the Association of Metropolitan Sewerage Agencies National
Environmental Achievement Award at a recent AMSA meeting in Washington,
D.C. The former Gloucester, Mass., mayor, who was also the keynote
luncheon speaker at the event, told the audience, "We need to understand
that our water and wastewater infrastructure isn't just about public
health and the environment. It's also part of our collective wealth,
sustaining our investments in our homes, businesses and industries; and
it's more than that: it's the foundation on which our economic growth is
built." In the photo, Tobey is flanked by Marian Orfeo, director of
planning and coordination for the Massachusetts Water Resources
Authority in Boston and Ken Kirk, executive director of AMSA.
