Utility wins national environmental award
MECKLENBURG COUNTY Charlotte-Mecklenburg Utilities has won a 2004 National Environmental Achievement Award from the Association of Metropolitan Sewerage Agencies. The award recognizes the utility's development of the Blue Planet Water Environmental Center, a hands-on educational facility at the North Mecklenburg Water Treatment Plant in Huntersville.A federal grant paid for Blue Planet, which opened in December.
