Portland Takes Top Honor For Having Excellent Sewage
Treatment Plants Serve Over 614,000 People
PORTLAND -- Two of the city's sewer treatment plants are among the best in the nation.
The Columbia Boulevard Wastewater Treatment Plant and the Tryon Creek
Wastewater Treatment Plant have won the top award in the Association of
Metropolitan Sewerage Agencies (AMSA) Peak Performance Award Program.
The two plants won the AMSA Platinum award, reserved for wastewater treatment
facilities with 100 percent compliance with their National Pollutant Discharge
Elimination permits for five consecutive years.
The plants serve a population of over 614,000 and have a combined sewage
treatment capacity of nearly 109 million gallons per day.
