MWA wins state, national awards
The Macon Water Authority has received several awards recently for the
operations of its water and wastewater treatment plants.
The Amerson Water Treatment Plant received the Georgia Water & Pollution Control
Association's 2002 Plant of the Year award for plants treating more than 15
million gallons of surface water a day. The plant has the capacity to treat
about 60 million gallons per day.
The water treatment plant also received the organization's 2001 gold award.
The Rocky Creek and Lower Poplar wastewater treatment plants both received GW&PCA
gold awards, as well as gold awards for 2001 from the Association of
Metropolitan Sewerage Agencies. The Rocky Creek plant has received other gold
awards for operation in the past
The GW&PCA and AMSA are organizations of water and wastewater operators
statewide and nationwide, respectively.
