MWA wins state, national awards

The Macon Water Authority has received several awards recently for the operations of its water and wastewater treatment plants.

The Amerson Water Treatment Plant received the Georgia Water & Pollution Control Association's 2002 Plant of the Year award for plants treating more than 15 million gallons of surface water a day. The plant has the capacity to treat about 60 million gallons per day.

The water treatment plant also received the organization's 2001 gold award.

The Rocky Creek and Lower Poplar wastewater treatment plants both received GW&PCA gold awards, as well as gold awards for 2001 from the Association of Metropolitan Sewerage Agencies. The Rocky Creek plant has received other gold awards for operation in the past

The GW&PCA and AMSA are organizations of water and wastewater operators statewide and nationwide, respectively.
