Sewer Group Offers Disaster Prep Tool
Washington - The Association of Metropolitan Sewerage Agencies has
released a Vulnerability Self-Assessment Tool for wastewater utilities.
The development of the assessment tool, funded by the U.S.
Environmental Protection Agency, was prompted by concerns of the
potential danger of attacks on wastewater treatment plants and sewage
pipes and tunnels beneath cities.
The software tool provides a system for wastewater utilities to
analyze their vulnerability to both intentional threats and natural
disasters. It enables utilities to organize data, document their
analyses, and present complex information in an easy-to-understand
format.
The software is available free of charge to public wastewater
