Orange County Utilities Honored For Sewer Operations

Orange County's utilities department is one of two utilities in Florida to receive an "excellence in management" honor from the Association of Metropolitan Sewerage Agencies.

The association awarded that honor at its recent winter conference in Washington, D.C.

The honor recognizes utilities for operations and maintenance improvements. Those improvements are measured in terms of cost reduction, efficiency and performance.

Orange County utilities have improved services without a rate hike in nine years, the county department says.

Its efficiency efforts includes implementing a reclaimed water re-use program.

The county utilities department provides drinking water, wastewater treatment and reuses, garbage disposal and recycling services for residents of unincorporated Orange County.
