Dear
Clean Water Colleague:
The Association of Metropolitan Sewerage Agencies is pleased to present the
2004 Developments in Clean Water Law Seminar at the
Loews Coronado Bay
Resort, in sunny San Diego, California, November 10 -12, 2004. The annual
AMSA Law Seminar (Seminar) is the premier forum for public agency attorneys
and managers to hear the latest from lawyers, engineers and clean water
leaders on key legal and policy developments.
Law Seminar Agenda to Highlight Key Clean Water Issues
This year’s Law Seminar agenda will focus on timely legal issues and the
latest developments affecting the clean water community. The Seminar will
begin with an optional Clean Water Act (CWA) and Safe Drinking Water Act (SDWA)
Overview designed for new practitioners and a refresher for the veterans.
The curriculum then kicks off with speakers and panels providing in-depth
discussion of new developments, recent strategies and practical approaches
to help clean water professionals stay cutting edge. Some of the topics that
will be explored at the Seminar include:
- Permitting — Seminar speakers will review recent judicial expansion of the
NPDES permitting program as well as public agency permitting innovations;
- Policy — Legal experts will cover existing and forthcoming regulatory
drivers for wastewater and drinking water utilities, as well as stormwater
litigation and policy;
- Practice — The Seminar will provide real world advice and input on key
issues such as managing construction claims;
- Perspective — Seminar presenters will highlight the unique public agency
perspective on legal strategies, such as when to settle and when to litigate
with the government or citizen groups.
