Destination Hilton Head

Just 12 miles long and 5 miles wide, the boot-shaped barrier island of Hilton Head offers beautiful beaches, award-winning dining, world-class golf, unique art galleries and shops, and a variety of fun family activities. Hilton Head Island was once home to Indian tribes who left their oyster shell mounds behind, then to English colonists who cultivated indigo and rice crops, and finally to wealthy cotton planters. Known as one of the finest resort communities in the U.S., we hope that you take advantage of this island which has a rich history of antebellum plantation culture, now seen through heritage tours and musical and storytelling performances, and also enjoy all that its modern-day resort atmosphere offers millions of visitors every year.
